"Despite an impressive first month of the year, Cornet began to slide the results. She lost both her matches to Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta in the Fed Cup and played for France. Her best result in their next seven tournaments were third-round performances in Dubai and Miami. They would lose two games in the Fed Cup play-offs, Daniela Hantuchova and Dominika Cibulkova.
Cornet fell in the first rounds in both the French Open and Wimbledon, tennis remains a dismal 2009 season.
